Canine Assisted Therapy
Therapy dogs are showing more and more the difference they make to people's lives, in visits to hospitals, care homes, schools and more.
And therapy dogs can also make a huge difference in therapy sessions too.
Dr Charis works alongside Jara, an accredited therapy dog, who is a safe, soft and calming presence in sessions.
Canine Assisted EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a trauma focused therapy that evidence has found to be effective for working with difficulties like PTSD, anxiety and depression.
In EMDR we are thinking about the past, present and future, and have 'one foot in the past and one foot in the present'. Working with therapy dog Jara in EMDR helps clients to feel safe enough to explore the past, and to stay grounded in the present moment.
