What does an EMDR Intensive Involve?
An EMDR intensive might be right for you at this time if:
You have limited time to commit to weekly therapy sessions. Maybe you have an upcoming break in work or study, and want to make the most of this time.
You feel it's time to make changes, and with support, you feel ready to take action for life to look and feel different.
With support, you feel able to face distressing emotions and memories (safely connecting with emotions is key to trauma re-processing)
You have support systems around you. This can be people, spirituality, religion, pets, hobbies and things that have meaning to us.
You feel able to connect with, and open up to, a therapist over a shorter period of time.
You have been working for a while with a therapist, but want to do a specific piece of trauma focused work. (EMDR Intensives can be adjunct to your current therapy).
Please note: If there are concerns about risk or your safety, or if you are struggling with significant substance or alcohol abuse, an EMDR intensive is unlikely to be the clinically appropriate option for support at this time.
